January 16, 2025 – In conjunction to the TikTok ban that is set to take effect on Sunday, President Joe Biden’s administration has revealed that they are exploring alternatives for the app to remain available in the United States.

An administration official stated that fellow Americans should not expect to see TikTok being banned this weekend.
“We are exploring options on how to implement the law so TikTok does not disappear on Sunday,” he added.
Handing Over The Issue
If the administration moves forward with the plan, TikTok will not be banned on Biden’s last day of service in the office. Instead, Donald Trump will take control on the prolonged issue at hand the following day.
Mike Waltz, Trump’s incoming national security adviser, has disclosed Trump’s determination in fighting for TikTok to be preserved in the country.
Pam Bondi, Trump’s attorney general stated that she refused to take stance on enforcing the ban, when asked about it during her Senate confirmation hearing on Wednesday.
Bypassing Congress and The Courts
These actions highlight how both presidents are attempting to bypass Congress and the Supreme Court, which is expected to rule on the ban soon.
However, a White House official stated that the administration has no intentions of not enforcing the ban, if it remains upheld. This is not up for consideration.
“We are not deferring the enforcements. By law, we believe we don’t have the rights to do so.”
— said one of the administration officials.

Their Stance On TikTok Ban
Both Biden and Trump has previously shown vocal support in banning of the Chinese owned media platform. However, recent developments indicate a visible shift in their positions on the current issue.
The Trump transition team opted to leave no comments when asked about the plans.
