President Dato Lim Chiew Ah Re-Elected for 2025–2028 in MHCC

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13, 2025 – The Malaysia Hainan Chamber of Commerce (MHCC) successfully held its 3rd Central Council Election during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Hainan Federation Hall on September 13, 2025. The meeting, attended by members from across Malaysia, concluded with the re-election of Dato Lim Chiew Ah as President for the 2025–2028 term.

The AGM commenced at 10.30am with the arrival and registration of members, followed by the official opening of the meeting at 11.00am, presided over by President Dato Lim Chiew Ah. In her welcoming remarks, Dato Lim reflected on the Chamber’s achievements over the past term, highlighting efforts in modernization, strengthening ties with Hainan associations worldwide, and promoting greater collaboration among members.
The assembly then proceeded to review and adopt the minutes of the previous AGM held on November 10, 2024, while also deliberating on follow-up matters arising from the earlier session. The Council presented the 2024–2025 Annual Activity Report, outlining the initiatives carried out during the year, which members formally received and endorsed. This was accompanied by the presentation and acceptance of the 2024 Audited Financial Report, underscoring the Chamber’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

MHCC Election for new term
Members were also invited to participate in discussions on proposals, which allowed constructive exchanges of views on the Chamber’s direction and priorities. A significant moment in the proceedings came with the formal dissolution of the 2nd Central Council, paving the way for the election of new leadership. The election process was conducted under the supervision of Election Committee Chairman, lawyer Mr. Lee Swee Meng, who ensured that proceedings were orderly, impartial, and transparent. Members cast their votes for nine Central Council representatives, and an external audit firm was appointed to provide independent oversight of the Chamber’s financial affairs.
At noon, the election results were announced, confirming the nine elected Central Council representatives. The process continued in the afternoon with a re-election session at 1.00pm, where both elected and appointed representatives convened to determine key office bearers for the new term. Positions including President, Deputy President, Vice Presidents, Secretary General, Treasurer, and other Council members were confirmed by way of open voting and consensus.
The day concluded with the inaugural meeting of the new Central Council at 3.30pm, where committee chairs were appointed to oversee specialized portfolios such as Public Relations, Finance Planning, Trade Missions, Legal Affairs, and Information Technology, marked the formal close of the AGM and the beginning of a new chapter for MHCC.

President’s Commitment
In her re-election speech, Dato Lim Chiew Ah expressed gratitude to the members for their trust:
“Over the past two terms, we modernized the Chamber, built strong ties with Hainan associations globally, and strengthened collaboration among our members. These achievements belong to all of us. Looking forward, we must seize new opportunities and stand united to take the Chamber to greater heights.”
Dato Lim emphasized two key priorities for the coming term. First, MHCC will focus on leveraging opportunities from the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port, ensuring Malaysian businesses understand and benefit from evolving policies. Second, the Chamber pledged full support for the upcoming 18th World Hainan Community Convention, to be held in Penang this November. The event, which gathers Hainanese communities worldwide, will serve as a platform to showcase Malaysia’s active role and contributions.
