KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 – The Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) will implement a new policy requiring students to wear the Jalur Gemilang badge on their school uniforms.

According to the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE), the implementation of the Jalur Gemilang badge on student uniforms in institutions under its administration will begin in stages from April 21, 2025.

This initiative will also include all government schools, government-aided schools, Matriculation Colleges, and Institutes of Teacher Education Malaysia.

With Malaysia’s multicultural student population, this initiative aims to foster a shared sense of identity and strengthen national pride. By displaying the national symbol, students are encouraged to embrace diversity while recognizing their role in building a united future.

Beyond promoting patriotism, the MOE believes this initiative can encourage meaningful conversations about Malaysia’s history and cultural heritage. These discussions can help students better understand and appreciate the country’s rich diversity while fostering mutual respect among peers.

The statement added that this initiative aligns with the role of educational institutions in fostering a love for the country and nurturing the spirit of patriotism among the younger generation.
