KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 – Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil demands swift investigation towards three ERA FM radio hosts over controversial video.
As outrage sparked following the radio station’s offensive social media post last Tuesday, the public has called for MCMC intervention due to the blatant mockery of religious practices, demanding for stricter law against insensitive content.

“We have received complaints from various parties regarding the behavior of staff from an Astro-owned radio station, who were seen mocking a religious ceremony of another faith,” said Fadzil in a statement on Tuesday.
As the MCMC has been ordered to perform a thorough investigation on this matter, the communication minister also claimed: “Astro and the relevant parties will be summoned to the MCMC office to provide full explanation.”
Malaysia’s top radio station ERA FM has issued a public apology over the discomfort caused by the viral footage on their social media platforms, where three radio hosts Radin, Nabil Ahmad and Azad Jasmin were seen apologising to the public.
“Once again, we would like to apologize wholeheartedly for the mistakes on our part,” said Azad Jasmin, highlighting that they never had the intention to offend any parties.
Astro has acted responsibly by suspending the individuals involved until further notice, as stated in their press release.
PDRM has reportedly received six police complaints regarding the mockery video, compelling them to launch an investigation under Section 298 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain revealed that the video has accumulated over 95,000 views and was shared 204 times prior to its removal.
This incident serves as a vital reminder to be mindful and respectful of racial and religious sensitivities before sharing on social media, where content spreads like wildfire.
